5 steps I'm taking to improve my happiness.

Thursday, 29 September 2016
This is a post that someone with a lot more will power may write, rather than someone who promises herself she'll only have one cupcake but then eats 6, who hasn't done that though, right?. As someone who suffers from anxiety and low moods I'm always trying ways to perk myself up. Here are 5 steps I'm currently taking to improve my happiness.

1. I'm seeing a counsellor.

I have finally decided to get back into therapy and continue with my cognitive behavioural therapy which I started about a year and a half ago. I'm not much of a medication taker as I'm usually worried about side effects. So when prescribed with beta blockers a few years back I didn't take them and wanted to learn more about controlling my anxiety rather than taking tablets which is when I started therapy. However, being given lots of different counsellors with social anxiety wasn't the best way to go and I'm very lucky to have been given a second shot with it and it's going really well.

2.I'm drinking more water.

I never thought I'd ever say that line. My will power for keeping up with drinking water is awful!. It has barely any taste and sometimes the taste honestly makes me shudder. I've worked out that's mainly tap water and mineral word isn't' that bad. I've been trying to drink 1 bottle a day, and I'm on almost a week, pretty impressive for someone that used to have a mild, massive tea obsession if I do say so myself.

3. I'm cutting down the pressure.

I pressure myself far too much "you need to wear make up today", "does that outfit really look that good?". The list is endless, I've realised I don't have to cake 30 layers of make up on my face to be somewhat pretty. My body is not as bad as I may think sometimes and my hair does not have to look perfect everyday. I've let go of some of the pressure so what if someone see's me without make-up on?. That's how I look. If they don't like it, tough.

4. I'm spending more time outdoors.

I've never felt worse than when I do when I'm always stuck indoors watching youtube for like 30 hrs on end. I've been getting out so much more recently and seeing new places and even though it will start getting older soon I will keep at it!. The fresh air has done me so much good.

5. I'm trying to eat better.

I eat a hella lot of sugar and things that aren't exactly great for you. I'm swapping up some snacks for fruit and I've made some simple diet changes, cutting down on the amount of cheese I ear which was the hardest! So for example instead of a cheese and tuna jacket potato I just have tuna. I've ditched processed food such as hamwiches which if you don't know what they were they're little ham and cheese bread crummed triangles, turnkey dinosaurs etc up for more healthier options such as breaded chicken breasts etc.

So far I do think these 5 simple steps are improving my mood!. have you tried any of these steps?,
What steps have you taken too improve your happiness?
